For Tissue Samples
Ship only samples that are fresh (not dried), clean of sand and debris, and sent next day express delivery. Make sure that all samples are clearly labelled as to location i.e.. green, tee, fairway, rough, field etc. Make sure all samples are secured in Ziplock plastic bags (2 cups minimum needed) with perforations. Do not ship the samples in paper bags or dry the sample in any way before shipping. Pack the samples so they are not free to bounce around and break open in the shipping container. Place your name, address and contact information in the shipping box with the samples and sample submission form. Email a list of the samples being shipped to dryork@tournamentturf.com. This is important so the proper tests can be run for the samples being shipped to the lab.
For Soil Samples
Make sure that all samples are clearly labelled as to location i.e.. green, tee, fairway, rough, field etc. Make sure all samples (2 cups needed) are secured in soil sample bags or Ziplock plastic bags. Sample through the root zone up to a 4 inch depth if soil conditions allow. Do not discard the turf or the thatch from the cores. Random sampling of the area of interest is necessary in order to obtain a representative sample. Pack the samples so they are not free to bounce around and break open in the shipping box. Place your name, address and contact information in the shipping box with the samples and sample submission form. Email a list of the samples being shipped to dryork@tournamentturf.com. This is important so the proper tests can be run for the samples being shipped to the lab.
For Water Samples
Two cups of water are needed for the complete irrigation water quality test. When sampling from a lake or pond, the sample should be taken 6 to 8 inches below the surface of the water. When sampling from a well or an irrigation head, take the sample at the end of an irrigation cycle. Collect the sample in a clean plastic bottle and ship to the laboratory.
